President Zillur Rahman this morning placed floral wreath and offered special prayers at the mazar of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj.

He stood in solemn silence for sometime when bugles played the last post. A smartly turned out contingent of the three services presented the state salute.

On his arrival at about 12:00noon on the mazar premises, the newly elected president was received by the chiefs of the three services, while other high civil and military officials were also present.

Later, the president signed the visitor's book kept at the mazar complex.

A helicopter carried President Zillur to Tungipara at about 11:45am and he left there in the same helicopter at about 1:00pm after paying rich tributes to Bangabandhu.

Earlier, the president placed wreath at the grave of four national leaders at Banani graveyard in the capital at about 10:30am.
