Awami League has finalised its manifesto with
pledges of continuing the anticorruption drive, slashing prices of
commodities and thwarting Islamist militants.
The final work was concluded at a three-hour central working committee meeting on Saturday, ending shortly before 2pm, at the party president's Dhanmondi office—though no formal briefing was given afterwards.
Eemerging from the meeting, AL presidium member Amir Hossain Amu
informed
reporters only that the final election manifesto had been approved.
Howver, fellow presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim did mention promises to cut prices of commodities, drives against corruption and militants and safeguarding "the secularity of the nation".
Party chief Sheikh Hasina will formally roll out the manifesto at the Hotel Sheraton on Dec. 12, AL spokesman and general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam told reporters the previous day.
