Awami League has extended to Saturday the deadline for collection and submission of nomination forms for the candidates aspiring to run the general election, an official said.

The party's central working committee at meeting at Awami League president's political office at Dhanmondi on Friday took the decision, deputy publicity secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil told journalists.

The deadline was to end on Friday.

The date for the grassroots leaders to choose five candidates for their respective constituencies and
send the names to the secretary of the central parliamentary board has also been extended one day to Nov. 10, he added.


The party on Nov. 4 finalised the plan for choosing candidates as per the recommendation of the grassroots leaders for the Dec. 18 parliamentary polls.

The matter was finalised by the central working committee in the day.

The party started distributing forms to the nomination seekers from Nov. 5.

According to the schedule for election, the last date for submission of nomination is Nov. 13.
