Awami League leaders on Monday reiterated that their party
would not take part in any election without the party
Chief and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Talking to newsmen in two separate programmes, they also alleged that the BNP-Jamaat alliance together with anti-liberation and communal forces have been hatching a deep-rooted conspiracy against the Representation of People Order (RPO) Ordinance. They are trying to foil the ensuing polls apprehending their defeat.
Acting AL President Zillur Rahman at a press briefing at his Gulshan residence yesterday evening said, "Whatever doubts would be there, no Hasina no election." He termed the court decision in connection with the bail petitions for Sheikh Hasina as unbecoming, discriminative and unexpected matter.
"BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was granted bails on one after another while our leader Hasina doesn't get bail," he expressed grave concern adding, "Such discriminative act doesn't last long."
About RPO Ordinance, he said, "The positive initiatives of the authorities concerned would be highly appreciated even it does to make happy a certain quarter."
Meanwhile, AL Presidium Member Abdur Razzak - while visiting the Puja Mandap at 'Ram Shikha Mandir' in old part of the capital on Monday morning - has
alleged that
conspirators are still active to make changes in the
Representation of People's Order (RPO) Ordinance so that
the BNP-Jamaat coalition might be benefitted.
"Being isolated from common people for their misdeeds, misrule and repressive activities during their immediate-past regime, BNP is trying to foil the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) elections lined up for December 18," he said adding, "This quarter, along with the anti-liberation forces, patronised the militant outfits and introduced the politics of destruction in Bangladesh."
Razzak talked to newsmen "Ever since the beginning, the people of different religions - including Hindu and Muslim - are living in fraternity and amity. But the erstwhile four-party alliance government annihilated the communal harmony throughout the country and instigated the outlawed militant forces. They want to destroy the spirit of liberation war," the veteran AL minister observed. He urged all patriotic forces to boycott those communal forces in next polls.
Referring to the RPO ordinance, the senior AL Presidium Member said, "We want the RPO ordinance-2008 to be executed. The Emergency Government and the Election Commission are favouring a certain political party regarding this issue but people will not accept it."
"Election dates have been announced and it should be held as per the stipulated roadmap. AL will take part in next polls under the leadership of the AL President and the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
