Awami League presidium members Amir Hossain Amu
and Suranjit Sengupta left for the UK Saturday, on a visit that will
coincide with that of party president Sheikh Hasina to London.
Sheikh Hasina's special assistant Dr Hasan Mahmud told bdnews24.com: "Sheikh Hasina was expected to arrive in London on Oct 6. We think she will now arrive on Oct 8, to attend several functions."
An Awami League press release said Amu and Suranjit
left Dhaka for London on
Saturday, on the first leg of a trip slated to include meetings with UK
and Euro MPs at the invitation of the UK foreign ministry and the
European Commission.
The two AL policymakers will meet Lord Mark Maloch Brown, UK state minister for foreign affairs on Asia, on Oct 6 and leave the next day for Brussels.
On Oct 8, they will join a discussion with members of the European Parliament on foreign and development affairs.
