The Chinese government has kicked out of the country five Americans detained for a Tibet-related protest at the Olympics Tuesday, the U.S. State Department said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the State Department is seeking more information about reports that six other Americans were detained on Wednesday, a group reportedly affiliated with the protesters who were deported.

And Reside said the State Department also has heard — but cannot confirm — reports that two Americans were taken into custody on Wednesday after displaying a Tibetan flag.

Since the Olympics began on August 8, more than 40 members of a New York-based group called Students for a Free Tibet have been detained and deported for other protests, Chinese authorities and group officials have said.
